Eligibility Criteria for University of Waterloo Scholarships

Applicants must meet the general eligibility criteria to be eligible for Waterloo Scholarships 2026.

  • Have an excellent academic record.

  • Applicants must meet admission requirements for the chosen program

  • Submit all required documents (given below)

  • For international applicants, submitting proof of English language proficiency (IELTS, TOEFL) is required.

Scholarship Coverage

A candidate will automatically be considered for all of the given awards once he applied for admission.

Available to any program students (No Application Required)

  • Entrance Scholarships (Automatically Considered)

Merit Scholarship:

  • $1,000 Entrance Scholarship.
  • admission average of 85% to 89.9%.

President’s Scholarship of Distinction:

  • $2,000 Entrance Scholarship
  •  $1,500 Research Award* $1,500 International Experience Award*  or both

Scholarship of International Student Entrance:

  • Several at $10,000 each

President’s Scholarship:

  • $2,000 Entrance Scholarship.
  • admission average of 90% to 94.9%.

Scholarship of Entrance Sponsored by Alumni and Donors:

  • Several at $1,000 – $5,000
